Uphold rule of law, pursue fair trial for charges
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in Stroudsburg, PA
May 1
The rule of law must apply equally to all citizens, including those holding high office. Granting absolute criminal immunity to any president would undermine the foundations of our democracy and the principle that no one is above the law. The president's official duties do not provide a blanket excuse to engage in unlawful conduct. The charges against the former president allege serious abuses of power that strike at the heart of our electoral process. Such grave actions cannot be shielded from accountability merely by virtue of the perpetrator's position. Upholding the integrity of our justice system requires allowing the indictment to proceed through the established legal channels. A fair trial weighing the evidence is the only legitimate path to determining guilt or innocence.
