An Open Letter

To: Sen. Crapo, Rep. Simpson, Sen. Risch

From: A constituent in Garden City, ID

May 17

I am writing to urge you to VOTE YES for the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (https://sgp.fas.org/crs/misc/R43956.pdf), or RECA. The 34-year-old federal program is set to expire on June 7th, removing a lifeline to communities, including in Idaho, that have been impacted by the generational health consequences of nuclear testing. The effort has bi partisan support and directly supports communities right here. I urge you please to work to make this bill pass. Thank you (https://www.npr.org/2024/05/06/1248955334/nuclear-veterans-compensation-expiring) for the so-called atomic veterans, downwinders and more.
